ACTIVE TRAVEL GUIDE / TRAIN
Triathlon training in Cartagena
A trip can give your swim, bike and run a different backdrop. Build a flexible week around the Caribbean climate and the time you want to spend in the city.
Start with the conditions
Plan demanding work early in the day and leave midday open for food and rest. Bring water, check the forecast and allow for traffic and access when you choose a cycling or running route. Conditions can change; use local guidance instead of assuming a familiar route is safe or open.
Give each discipline its own space
Keep swim plans dependent on the day's conditions and permitted areas. For cycling, look into the coast north of Cartagena and confirm the route before setting out. Running at sunrise can leave your afternoon free to explore. A gym session offers a simpler option on days when an outdoor session does not fit.
Recovery is part of the itinerary
Leave time to eat, hydrate and rest. A lagoon afternoon, shared sauna or jacuzzi, or a quiet balcony can become the bridge between training and the rest of your trip. Shared amenities at Baia Kristal Privé are subject to its current rules and availability.
Build a trip, not a rigid schedule
In three days, choose a few favorite sessions. In five, add a slower day in the Old City. With seven, keep a rest day and room for an island experience. TREC provides a place to stay and ideas to explore; arrange any specialist coaching or activities with independent providers.
